Community Problems Assembly: October 29, 2019

We had 318 people in attendance at our Community Problems Assembly this year, a 33% increase over 2018!

We heard some very good progress reports on our four current issue campaigns from our top public officials (our police chief, our public school superintendent, the president of our Metro Council, the CEO of our local mental health services provider, and others). And from every one, we not only heard about great progress on our issues, but very complimentary comments about CLOUT’s work

It was especially significant to have LMPD Chief Steve Conrad present for the first time, to report the culmination of our 2+-year effort to work with the Mayor’s office, Metro Council, and LMPD to bring about improvement in LMPD's use of de-escalation, which will save lives and make our city safer for citizens and police officers alike.

It was also great to welcome a new member congregation (St. Leonard Catholic), and to elect a great slate of officers for the coming year.

And finally, it was moving and unifying to hear one personal story from each and every congregation on one of our four current issue campaigns, and to lift them up in prayer.

We had a lot of media coverage of the Assembly, including coverage from the Courier Journal, WLKY-TV, WFPL radio (public radio), and The Record (newspaper of the Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville). See links below:

SO…great job one and all!
